Tim (he/him) is a kind and approachable psychologist, whose calm nature helps create a safe and validating space for clients to explore concerns and find a way forward. With emphasis on non-judgement and empathy, he works collaboratively with students to build strategies and tools to empower them in their lives.
Tim sees adolescents (14+yrs) and adults, and has a special interest in supporting men’s health.
Tim has a special interest in working with trauma/PTSD (Tim uses EMDR), those living with ADHD, relationship issues (including couples therapy), and workplace issues.

Tim feels honoured to support individuals in processing trauma, whether recent or under more complex circumstances.
His person-centred therapeutic approach helps create a safe space for his clients to explore the impact of trauma on the facets of their lives such as daily functioning, quality of life, relationships and world views. He aims to not only help clients process and understand trauma but also develop skills to manage their trauma symptoms.
Tim is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma.

Working with adolescents is an element of psychology practice Tim finds very rewarding. He particularly enjoys helping young people with their:
Mental health (e.g. anxiety, depression)
Neurodivergence
School related challenges
Navigating friendships and relationships.
With the young person’s permission, Tim takes a collaborative approach with families to extend the strategies developed in session. His hope is to equip clients with tools to have a lasting impact moving forward in life.

Tim provides psychological support and practical tools to adolescents and adults with ADHD working with both those navigating recent diagnosis and those navigating their long-known diagnosis.
A particular passion of Tim’s is helping clients navigate recent diagnosis and the ongoing impact this can have on mental health and identity.
Tim is experienced in supporting clients put into place strategies to reduce challenges when navigating everyday demands (work, school, relationships).
Please note that Tim does not conduct ADHD assessments.

Tim is an advocate for destigmatising mental health care which informs his work with men in sessions.
Tim particularly enjoys working with men in the following areas:
Helping adolescent males and young men navigate identity formation and building positive and respectful friendships and relationships.
Helping men navigate their different roles in life - son, friend, partner, husband, father - whilst remaining true to themselves.
Helping men adjust to the parenting role and its associated changes to routine, identity, and relationship dynamics.
Helping men to relate better to their partners, focusing on communication, conflict, boundaries, and intimacy.
Helping men with ADHD to manage their daily lives and relationships better and to refrain from engaging in impulsive behaviours that carry potential for negative outcomes.
Helping men facing mental health challenges (depression, anxiety) as well as loneliness and isolation.

Tim has extensive experience supporting individuals with a range of work-related difficulties across various industries.
In particular, Tim works with helping clients manage burnout and to collaboratively develop strategies to improve work life balance and develop a more sustainable approach to work.
Tim enjoys supporting clients early in their careers to work through challenges, develop communication strategies and navigate the life transition of new jobs and careers.

Relationships can be challenging at times. Tim works with individuals, and also with couples, to help them work through and work together on these challenges.
In particular, Tim enjoys working with couples to improve communication and connection within their relationships and equip them with tools to navigate future interpersonal issues.
Tim also supports individuals and partners to navigate challenges that impact on the relationship, including poor mental health, neurodivergence, substance use, grief, parenting/pregnancy and family issues.
Additionally, with Tim’s interest in supporting those with ADHD he helps couples work through the challenges of communication and roles within their relationship, including supporting couples where one (or both) partner has ADHD.

Working with LGBTQIA+ clients in an affirming and non-judgemental way is paramount to Tim’s professional practice.
He works with community members of all ages (adolescents to older people) to navigate their mental health, relationship challenges, parenting and grief.
Tim knows that being LGBTQIA+ can make entering any health care space particularly confronting due to the potential of or past experiences of stigma. He is dedicated to providing a safe and positive therapeutic space for clients to be authentic and work as a team with his clients to work through their presenting challenges.

Tim completed a Bachelor of Psychology (with minors in Developmental and Health Psychology) and Graduate Diploma of Counselling at Murdoch University. He has worked in EAP and rehabilitation settings, as well as within the NDIS system, helping people to improve their wellbeing, mental health, and performance.
Tim’s approach is firmly grounded in Person Centred Therapy, and drawing from evidence-based frameworks including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy.
Tim runs his own independent practice and engages The Skill Collective to provide administrative and other business services to support his provision of assessment and treatment to clients.
