Fees + Rebates
Please contact us on 08 6382 0355 or via our Contact Form for details of our fees. Individual counselling services are exempt from GST. Payments are to be made on the day of the consultation.
If you are referred by a GP under a GP Mental Health Care Plan, or are referred by a psychiatrist, you may be eligible for rebate of up to $129.55 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. (*updated on 1/1/23)
Alternatively, you may also self-refer and you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health fund. Contact your health fund to check if you are covered for psychological services and what rebate you will receive.
We also see individuals under ICWA or WorkCover, however please ensure that you are covered for psychological services under your claim.
We are also able to provide EAP assistance in the form of individual counselling, however please seek advice from your organisation as to their EAP arrangements.
There are four types of Medicare rebates that you may be eligible to claim for our services.
1. GP MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT PLAN
Under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) you will be eligible to receive a rebate per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Sessions with Joyce, Annie, Emilita, Keely and Tracey, who are Clinical Psychologists, attract a rebate of $129.55 per session under the MHCP. Sessions with Tara & Joanne who is a Counselling Psychologist; Michelle Z, Tayla who are Registered Psychologists, attract a rebate of $88.25 per session under the MHCP.
These sessions are approved by your GP in an initial block of six sessions following which you review with your GP to see if a further four sessions are indicated. If you wish to see your GP to obtain a MHCP, please advise their reception staff when booking as some GPs may prefer to book a longer consultation to thoroughly assess your concerns.
As of 30th March 2020, as part of a Covid-19 initiative, Medicare rebates can now be provided for sessions conducted over tele-health (phone or video).
2. TEAM CARE ARRANGEMENT
Team Care Arrangements apply in the care of managing chronic diseases including diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Psychologists can help with chronic disease management in the following ways:
Adjust to a diagnosis of a chronic disease and its impact on your lifestyle
Address negative feelings such as stress, anger, or anxiety, that may arise from such a diagnosis
Make lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, sleep, quitting smoking, alcohol consumption) to manage the chronic disease effectively
Shift your mindset by looking at psychological roadblocks so these lifestyle changes can be sustainable in the longer term
The TCA allows individuals to claim a rebate from Medicare for up to five sessions per calendar year for a variety of health professionals that may be involved in your care. Your GP will determine how these sessions will be allocated.
For example, managing diabetes may involve the input of health professionals like diabetes educators, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and psychologists, and it is up to the GP to determine how to allocate the five sessions across the various health professionals depending on your unique needs. Sessions with a psychologist under a TCA attract a rebate of $55.10 for each session.
3. NON-DIRECTIVE PREGNANCY COUNSELLING
Under a GP referral for Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling eligible individuals who are currently pregnant or have been pregnant in the preceding 12 months may receive a rebate of $79.70 for up to three sessions per pregnancy. Currently, only Joyce is eligible to provide non-directive pregnancy counselling services.
4. EATING DISORDERS TREATMENT PLAN
Eating disorder psychological treatment may attract a rebate provided a management plan is in place. Annie provides these services, and clients may receive a rebate of $129.55 for up to 40 sessions for 12 months from the date of your treatment plan (with reviews after each set of 10 sessions).
*Please note that all Medicare rebate amounts outlined above are current at the time of posting (April 2020) and we advise you to check with Medicare for the most up-to-date information.
Please check with your private health fund to see if you are covered for psychology services and how much you will receive under your health fund.
CANCELLATION POLICY
When you book your session with one of our psychologists you are booking their time for the 50-minute period. We understand that there may be times when you are unable to attend your session and will need to cancel or reschedule for good reason. Unfortunately, unlike brief medical appointments it is difficult to fill a 50-minute cancellation spot at short notice.
Consequently, please give us a minimum of 48 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling your appointment. Cancellation fees will apply because your psychologist has dedicated the time to focus on you, meaning that time is no longer available for other clients who may otherwise wish to see their psychologist.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will attract a fee of 50% of the full session cost + GST. In a case of a non-attendance (where no notice is given that you will not be attending) the full session cost + GST will be charged. GST is charged for cancellation fees because an individual psychological service has not been rendered, and only these services are GST exempt.
Please note that Cancellation Fees cannot be claimed on Medicare or your Private Health Fund. If your treatment is funded by a third party (e.g. RiskCover, WorkCover) you will be responsible for ensuring that this fee is paid.
Please give us 48 hours notice if you want to give up your place in a workshop. Non-attendance and late cancellations (less than 48 hours notice) will not be refunded.
