Mickela is an empathic, warm, and respectful psychologist who is very validating of different experiences, strengths, values, and needs. She creates a safe space for clients to navigate life and develop skills to improve wellbeing.
Mickela works with young people (10+) and adults.
She is currently on a maternity break and not taking on new clients.
Mickela has a special interest in supporting with neurodiverse populations (Autism, ADHD), parents, young people (10+ years), endometriosis, anxiety, self-esteem, and work/life balance.

Mickela adopts a neurodiverse-affirming approach, helping to improve the overall wellbeing of neurodivergent individuals in various ways.
This includes supporting those experiencing autistic burnout from masking, helping with emotion regulation, and increasing neurodivergent individuals’ understanding of themselves.
She also helps with relationships, navigating life transitions, and more generally with difficulties at work and school.
Mickela also empowers parents to better understand their neurodivergent child and nurture their emotional development.

Mickela enjoys working with young people to enhance their mental health (e.g. depression, anxiety, anger, low self-esteem), school performance (e.g. study skills, procrastination, perfectionism), relationships (family, friends), life transitions, and adjustment.
She enjoys working with caregivers to apply the knowledge and skills gained in therapy to everyday life.

The parent-child relationship is a special one, and Mickela helps to enhance the connection as well as parental confidence.
She helps parents to explore their child’s world, achieve understanding of their child’s difficulties and work together to shift challenging behaviours through co-regulation techniques and parent-based behavioural strategies.

Endometriosis can have a significant impact on quality of life - ongoing investigations, surgery, adjustment to diagnosis, managing pain and its impact on relationships - these can all take a toll on physical and mental health.
Mickela also helps endo warriors manage the impact of endometriosis on relationships, identity, stress, anxiety, and depression.

Mickela helps individuals explore the challenges they face and how their thoughts, feelings, and habits contribute to their experience.
Working collaboratively, she helps with shifting mindsets and developing coping strategies to create meaningful change.

Mickela supports individuals with GAD, social anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, and general psychological distress.
She works collaboratively to help her clients understand their experience, to achieve a healthier sense of self, and to improve emotion regulation.
about mickela
Mickela completed her Bachelor of Psychology with Honours at the Curtin University, and her Master of Professional Psychology at Monash University. She has experience working in disability, educational, research, and government health sectors.
Mickela is a friendly and personable clinician, who strongly believes in person-centred care and in encouraging clients to explore how their wider context impacts their wellbeing. She uses a wide range of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Skills training.
Mickela runs her own independent practice and engages The Skill Collective to provide administrative and other business services to support her provision of assessment and treatment to clients.
