Jo has a passion for assisting individuals adapt to change, bounce back from difficult emotions and poor mental health, and approach life with meaning. Her areas of special interest include:
1. ADHD, work, and school performance. Jo helps with school and work performance issues, looking at developing a healthy mindset and habits to achieve goals and break down barriers (e.g. perfectionism, self-doubt, motivation). Additionally, Jo helps those with ADHD work with the unique challenges that it brings to daily life.
2. Peri-menopause, and other health and wellbeing issues, including health anxiety. Jo appreciates that changes in health not only impact on physical health, but also psychological wellbeing and identity. She assists with creating mindset shifts and new habits to improve physical and psychological wellbeing. In her toolkit are mindfulness, improved self-reflection, thought management and meaningful goal setting - these help individuals take a holistic approach to getting more out of life..
3. Parenting concerns. Parenting styles are varied, and Jo helps individuals find one that is the ‘best fit’ for families based on their unique circumstances. Approaching parenting from a values-based perspective can build an increased sense of joy and connection. Jo also helps parents understand their children’s behaviours and developmental stages better, and value the importance of parental self-care in nurturing the parent-child relationship.
4. Coping with relationship breakdown, loss, work/study transition, migration. Change can bring uncertainty, identity shifts, and difficult emotions. Jo helps individuals adjust to their new circumstances whilst continuing to pursue a meaningful life through challenging times.
5. Anxiety (particularly GAD, panic, and social anxiety). Jo helps individuals to manage their anxiety and improve their quality of life. Through working collaboratively, she helps identify triggers for anxiety, and build skills to sustainably manage anxiety in the longer term.
6. Depression and mood regulation difficulties are often accompanied by feelings of hopelessness and lack of purpose in life. Jo can help enhance meaning through exploring a values-driven life, combining this with working on mindset and lifestyle shifts.
7. Stress, burnout, and work/life balance. Striking the right balance in life can be a real juggling act. Jo helps explore how to sustainably balance work and personal goals in order to achieve a fulfilling and sustainable life.
Jo is a practical and skills-based clinician who works collaboratively using evidence-based interventions including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Mindfulness.
